Baby Shower Party Games

Written on Friday 26th July, 2019

Baby showers are a time for family and friends to celebrate the impending birth of a beautiful new baby, while making Mum feel special and sharing in her excitement. There's usually a selection of delicious food and drink to get stuck into, and gifts to open, but no baby shower is complete without a few games to bring all the guests together and have some fun!

If you're looking for baby shower party game ideas, look no further. Here are the most popular, guaranteed to give all your guests a laugh and make the next baby shower you attend or throw a hit!

Dirty Diapers

One thing's for certain - Mum-to-be certainly has a lot of dirty nappy changing to look forward to in her future! Why not give her a little sample of what's to come with this tasty treat of a game?

You'll need:

  • Nappies
  • Spreadable food OR melted chocolate if you really want to go for the visuals
  • A good sense of smell

How to play

Smear some food in each nappy. Then pass them around and have each guest guess what the food is by giving the nappy a good sniff! For the melted chocolate version, get a selection of different bars, with different textures and fillings, and have your guests guess which bar of chocolate they're smelling.

Guess the baby food

Growing tots need their fuel, and you might be surprised at how many unique and varied options of baby foods that are available for them to eat. Now's the time to see for yourself and find out who knows their baby spag bol from their baby veggie risotto!

You'll need:

  • Around 7 to 10 cans of unique baby food jars
  • Blindfold
  • A good sense of taste!

How to play

Blindfold each guest and have them sample the baby food and guess what it is. You could even provide a small gift for the baby food connoisseur that makes the most correct guesses.

Place the dummy on the baby

Some people believe that dummies are a godsend, while others won't go near them. At this baby shower, dummies are more than welcome and they take centre-stage in this fun game!

You'll need:

  • Blindfold
  • Poster-size photo of baby
  • Cut out dummy
  • Stickers, tape or pins

How to play

Blindfold your guess and have them try to stick the cut-out out dummy on the photo of the baby, one by one. If you really want to get competitive, why not create a point scoring system? The closer they get to the baby's mouth, the more points they get!

What am I? Baby Edition

Baby showers are about bringing people together and this is a game that can serve as great ice-breaker while being super fun. You remember the classic “What am I?” game? Well, this is the baby edition!

You'll need:

  • Note cards or post-it notes
  • Pen or pencils

How to play

Write a baby item on each post-it note. Think nappies, wipes, rattles, cots, bottles, baby monitors, sterilisers. When you have your magnificent list of newborn essentials, stick a post-it on each guest as they arrive. Then, have everyone ask each other yes or no questions as they try to identify what the items stuck to them are.

Baby word unscramble

Mum-to-be is about to get very acquainted with her baby item lists, but how well will she do when all the words are jumbled up? If you really want to get competitive, here's a game that will get everyone in the spirit.

You'll need:

  • A list of words associated with babies - scrambled up, for each guest
  • A timer
  • Pens and paper

How to play

Set a timer and have each guest unscramble the words and write them out in their correct form as quickly as possible. See who can find the most words in 5 minutes!

Now you have some fantastic ideas for fun and easy baby shower games. Enjoy!

I've always tried to be an overachiever when it comes to gift giving - there's nothing quite like seeing a person's face light up when they've opened a present from you that they love. Equally, the polite smile that spreads across your loved one's face when they're less than impressed with your gift is something I never want to be the recipient of, which also drives my determination to put a lot of thoughts into my gifts.
